Gum concern
Bleeding, swollen gums and persistent bad breath are reasons to arrange a dental assessment. Gum problems vary in severity, and treatment should reflect the findings rather than the appearance of your teeth alone.

Tooth sensitivity is a different concern. Exposed roots, worn enamel, decay, cracks or worn fillings can cause discomfort, so cleaning is not automatically the solution. Tell us whether it happens with cold drinks, sweet foods, brushing or biting, and whether one tooth or several are affected.
Our team provides professional teeth cleaning using ultrasonic and hand instruments. Your visit is also an opportunity to discuss brushing technique, cleaning around existing dental work and anything you find difficult at home.You do not need to know whether to ask for scaling or deep cleaning. Start with the symptoms. We can explain the relevant options after checking your teeth and gums.
After deeper gum treatment, temporary tenderness or sensitivity can occur. Follow-up allows the dentist to check healing and decide whether further care is needed.
Before treatment, discuss whether your plan is routine cleaning, deeper gum care or a separate investigation of sensitivity. Knowing the reason for each step helps you understand the time, cost and home care involved.
Tell your dentist before treatment starts. Deep cleaning may be carried out with local anaesthetic, and comfort measures depend on the procedure and your needs. Temporary sensitivity can occur afterwards.
